A Tiramisu a Day Keeps the Doctor Away

For years, it had been my dream to visit Italy  and when my feet finally touched the cobblestoned streets, it felt like a postcard had come to life. From the rolling hills of Tuscany to the timeless ruins of Rome, every day was a new chapter of la dolce vita.

My adventure began in Tuscany, where every little town had its own unique touch. I wandered through quiet piazzas, listened to church bells ring through the streets, and sipped an Aperol Spritz under the golden sun. Each meal was a love story- from paper-thin prosciutto to hand-rolled pasta fresca and vino that tasted like joy.At a cooking class, I learned that true pasta should be tender yet al dente, made with patience and a whole lot of amore. And you bet I had tiramisù; after all, a tiramisù a day keeps the doctor away!

In Rome, history wrapped itself around every moment. I stood on the ancient stones of the Colosseum, felt the hush of St. Peter’s Basilica, and tossed a coin into the Trevi Fountain. Scripture came alive as I walked the same ground where Peter and Paul once stood. The Holy Spirit felt near as God’s stories echoed through every arch and column, it was a truly powerful experience. Even the simple days were full of magic: gelato melting faster than I could eat it, and laughter shared over Roman pizza at a family-run trattoria. One night, the chef gave me his hat, posed for a picture, and kissed me on the cheek… only in Italy!

In Assisi, I felt the Holy Spirit in the quiet breeze and in Cortona, I listened to the birds, tasted dark-chocolate gelato, and toasted “cin cin” with incredible wine at a vineyard. Every day offered something to treasure from a chill morning shopping through Rome’s markets, to a long lunch of homemade pasta and wine in the Tuscan countryside, to an evening on a cozy patio sharing laughter, limoncello, and creamy tiramisù.

As I said ciao to Italy, I knew a piece of my heart would stay there- somewhere between a cappuccino in Rome and a sunset in Tuscany.Italy reminded me that la dolce vita isn’t about grand plans, it’s about savoring each moment, one tiramisù at a time!

Cin cin, bella Italia.
