About Me
My story didn’t start with advocacy; it started with fear, hiding my blindness from the world, and letting OCD boss me around. Born a fighter, I learned from an early age how to navigate the world differently while living with Bardet-Biedl Syndrome, a rare genetic condition that causes progressive vision loss. As my vision worsened, I worked hard to adapt.
Alongside blindness, I also live with Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder. For years, OCD dictated my life. There were seasons of hiding, isolating, and internal struggle as I battled OCD and came to terms with my blindness.
Over time through treatment, faith, and support I began reclaiming my life. I started freeing myself from OCD and gradually accepting my blindness as part of my story. With a heart for helping others, I am turning my “mess” into my mission.
I share my story so others facing similar challenges know they are not alone. I hope to be a glimmer of hope for those fighting OCD and navigating their own health journeys. I write to show that despite setbacks, life is worth living and to remind others of this truth: if I can do it, so can you.
